Canedo Convent
A former Franciscan convent at the foot of Picaraña mountain, in Ponteareas, built on a manor house of the Sarmiento family.
In 1715, D. José Sarmiento Velasco Isasi donated the manor to the Franciscans to convert into a convent. The Baroque church with neoclassical elements was completed in 1777. Tradition holds that Agustina Sarmiento, one of the maids-of-honour painted by Velázquez, was born here.
