Curro da Paradanta

Imaxe por defecto

The Rapa das Bestas (wild horse round-up) held every last Sunday of August on the Paradanta mountain, in A Cañiza.

It is one of the most vibrant ethnographic events in the region: horses that live freely in the sierra are herded down to the curro, an enclosure where they are health-checked, branded and traded among farmers. The day, in a beautiful natural setting near A Franqueira, combines working with the horses with a festive pilgrimage full of colour, traditional music and gastronomy. It is a deeply rooted celebration that perpetuates the ancestral bond between the people of the Paradanta and the mountain horses.
