Pasos de Lourido

Imaxe por defecto

Ancient stepping stones set across the river Tea at Lourido, in Covelo.

These are interspersed blocks of stone placed at a distance that allows the river to be crossed on foot from one bank to the other. From ancient times, where bridges were difficult to build, these crossings were set up and also used for fishing. Along with the Pasos de Tatín, they are the best-known on the Tea, and are an example of popular ingenuity for fording rivers, possibly with very ancient origins.
