Saint Peter Festival
Festivities in honor of Saint Peter, patron saint of the San Pedro neighborhood in Mondariz-Balneario, celebrated around June 29th.
The epicentre is the Chapel of San Pedro, a Romanesque temple probably dating from the 13th century that still preserves medieval elements. According to tradition, the Portuguese King Don Dinis and Isabella of Aragon (now Saint Elizabeth of Portugal) married here in 1282. The religious celebration, with its masses and procession, blends with the neighboring Xabrina Pilgrimage, held on the closest weekend along the riverbanks. It remains a key tradition of the San Pedro district.
